In February 2022, after recovering from Covid, I was hospitalised due to sudden loss of mobility, initially suspected to be heart related. Following extensive tests and consultation at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, I was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). Managing this neurological disorder was made harder by my previous diagnosis of Nephrotic syndrome, an autoimmune condition I developed in late 2021.
After six and a half months mostly confined to bed, I left the Sid Watkins Centre in Liverpool to continue my recovery at home. For the second time in under a year, I consulted Dynamic Neurophysiotherapy.
My physiotherapist, Amy Parkes, developed a specific treatment plan focused on improving my mobility, core strength and balance, incorporating various exercises and equipment into each session, making them both challenging and enjoyable. She also created a gym routine for me, which I now follow three times a week. The progress I’ve made from being confined to bed, to reaching my current abilities, is beyond what I ever imagined and is due largely to Amy’s expertise and expert medical knowledge.
As a 78-year-old former rugby player who played at senior level, my body is feeling its age. However, after my sessions with Amy I almost skip out the door.

Following a stroke age 43 caused by complex undiagnosed conditions which resulted in left sided weakness and loss of function I can honestly say the only bright point was having the dynamic neurophysio team recommended to me. Through a regular treatment plan the team have helped me recover patterns of movement, lost confidence, and increased my mobility. In addition, with their hard work and encouragement I have been able to successfully apply for the mobility scheme and regain my driving independence. The holistic approach has supported me through the devastating loss of a parent and some additional health concerns. They are always friendly and welcoming and prepared to go the extra mile for their patients. The Clinic is clean and modern with a welcoming reception and spacious treatment rooms. If anyone is unfortunate enough to have a stroke, a visit to Dynamic should be top of your recovery list!

As a stroke survivor it is important for me to motivate myself and continue to make progress. Helen has been an invaluable support in enabling me to reach my goals over the past 12 months. I look forward to physiotherapy every week and have one session at home an one at the clinic. For me, this is ideal as it gets me out meeting people at the clinic but also gives Helen a chance to assess my progress in my own home. My wife is welcomed into the clinic to observe and give input if necessary and herself, feels well supported by all of the staff.
Helen brings new and innovative ways to the sessions and I feel improvement after each one. She has worked tirelessly towards improving my core stability & balance, enabling me to start playing table tennis & indoor bowls at a local group, something I never envisaged that I would do, even accompanying me to the group to assess my progress. She has promised, that when the weather improves, we can go to Astley Park to use the outdoor bowling greens. I am looking forward to that.
Helen’s wealth of experience and compassionate manner shine through in all that she does. We decide, mutually, what action plan will be most beneficial for my improvement, both during sessions and with my wife between sessions. I particularly enjoy chosing a playlist from my phone which relaxes me into the physiotherapy.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the team at Dynamic Neurophysiotherapy and commend them on their professionalism at all times. A special mention should go to Charlotte who supports the team and manages the administration. It is comforting to know that we can always contact her if necessary.

It is a pleasure to write a testimonial for Dynamic Neuro Physiotherapy (DNPE) based on the remarkable progress my husband has made under their care.
In March 2022, my husband experienced a substantial stroke that resulted in right-side paralysis. After completing his initial rehabilitation and six weeks of physiotherapy through the NHS, we sought further support and discovered DNP. He began treatment with their highly skilled physiotherapists in August 2022.
At the outset, my husband required a hoist for transfers, slept downstairs in the lounge for accessibility, and could only travel in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. These circumstances significantly impacted both his independence and our daily life at home.
Through DNP’s detailed, thorough, and consistently well-planned programme, my husband has made remarkable improvements. He is now able to transfer with some independence to chairs and bed without the need for a hoist, once again sleeps upstairs—returning our lounge to its intended purpose as a place of relaxation—and is able to transfer into a standard car. The regular hands-on sessions have effectively managed the spasticity and increased muscle tone he experiences. Additionally, DNPE have taught me exercises to assist him between sessions, further supporting his progress.
The team at DNP are always focused on the next goal, identifying new skills my husband may be able to achieve. They are an invaluable source of information, frequently guiding us towards other professionals to further support his recovery and maximise his potential.
We cannot recommend Dynamic Neurophysiotherapy highly enough; their expertise and dedication have genuinely changed our lives for the better.

I met the Dynamic Team following a brief period of hospitalisation due to a stroke. Although the NHS staff are desperate to help the shear lack of resources is very limiting and frustrating.
I had a young family and knew that I needed the best chance to recover and regain my independence. Starting with an intensive phase of daily treatments with Suzanne and Helen, I quickly regained sufficient ability and strength to walk and start to hold things. Eight months later I could change my new born daughter’s nappies and hold her. Years on and I’m living a normal life thanks to the Dynamic Team. It’s the little things like tying shoelaces and buttoning clothes that make you feel human.
These guys go the extra mile and really care about their patients. We even had pool sessions!
I continue to have a session every week, it makes a difference and we are still making progress and developing more fine skills.

Since having a spinal stroke in October 2021, my husband has been receiving physio treatment from Suzanne.
From the start she has been so supportive and encouraging, providing expert advice on improving his walking through exercises tailored specifically for him and on equipment to aid his recovery.

Amy has been supporting my dad (&family!) who has advanced Parkinson’s Disease. After a prolonged hospital stay dad returned home bedbound, weak & unable to walk. Dad was determined to get moving again, and with Amy’s support & dedication this was achieved ! He is 87 and that was 2 years ago.
His recovery, thanks too Amy was unbelievable & inspirational. Dad still to this day enjoys Amy’s visits. We are incredibly grateful, Amy helped get dad back on his feet & believed it was possible, where others just saw the old man. Believe & achieve

I was a hopeless, depressed mess, abandoned to accepting disability by the NHS, when I turned up on DNPE’s doorstep after a serious spinal injury. I needed support to get the 10 yards from car to the front door, so poor was my walking. I wept openly when Suzanne told me she could help me walk again. That was under two years ago. I’m back at work full time. I’ve swum in lakes. I’ve danced in a club. I’ve ridden the lights on my bike at Blackpool. All of it because of Suzanne and the rest of the team at DNPE. Suzanne’s knowledge, experience and technical neuro physiotherapy skills are extensive. But DNPE is so much more than just physical, hands-on therapy, its an entire holistic approach with a programme just for me.
It’s difficult to explain, but there is an atmosphere around DNPE, an atmosphere that feels positive and smiling and healing. My fortnightly sessions with Suzanne became my entire focus because that hour in that building was my safe place, my place to get better, my place where, when life felt really hard and hopeless, for an hour I genuinely felt ‘everything is going to be ok’. I have been nursed back to physical and mental health and will never be fully able to express my gratitude to the team at DNPE. They, quite literally, saved my life.

I can’t thank Suzanne enough for the treatment I have received over the last 18months; she has given me my life back.
After spine surgery left me with nerve damage and in chronic pain Suzanne enabled me to move. On the day of my assessment, I was unable to walk across a room unaided. Through careful, individualised Neuro-Physiotherapy administered with kindness and unfaltering perseverance Suzanne enabled me to trust my body, rebuild muscle strength, coordination and balance. If I was unable to grasp a movement she would, place my body, model the movement and wait patiently for me to achieve. My first major milestone was regaining the capability to put on my shoes and tie my laces. This became the first step to regaining my independence. I thank Suzanne every time I put on my trainers; I am now walking 5K before breakfast (longer at the weekends). I maintain my movement with exercises designed by Suzanne to meet my needs along with Pilates recommended by Suzanne, Tia Chi and Yoga.
This is a wonderful service; in a state-of-the-art building placed in a beautiful setting. Thank you!

Professional, friendly proactive treatment. Following a spinal cord injury, I have been treated holistically to ensure movement is maintained but also to gain improvement in mobility. Firstly, I was treated at home but now attend the new facility which is first class, spacious and conducive to the needs of patients and physiotherapists.

Suzanne is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She strikes the perfect balance between professional and approachable. I feel she takes time to listen, to really get to know your injury and also your lifestyle.
The treatment feels very personally tailored to your needs, Suzanne explains each exercise relating it to your daily life. Appointments are well organised and punctual.

I suffered a stroke resulting in left sided weakness in arm and leg. After hospitalization I was discharged and informed that there would be an eight-week delay before the community neuro team could take up my case. At this point I decided to seek help from the private sector and Suzanne was recommended by the then head of the physiotherapy department at Chorley Hospital.
So began the long, unrelenting road to recovery. The uncompromising nature of the therapy and Suzanne’s long-term view of a successful outcome were soon revealed. In one early therapy session I enquired about the possibility of using walking aids (crutches) to be told in no uncertain terms these were not an option because their use would encourage bad habits and that I would walk as naturally as possible unaided. 2-3 months later with Suzanne’s advice, encouragement guidance and guidance I completed (with the aid of a stick only) two hours of a sponsored walk-in support of a local charity.
In the course of the last 20 months there have been many stalls and plateaux, but Suzanne has not wavered from her overall objective. Her positivity has never faltered, and all therapy sessions have been well-planned and thought out, some with considerable elements of creativity. When, occasionally, further progress has seemed unlikely Suzanne has had the humility and self-confidence to consult and seek guidance from mentors and colleagues (something sometimes lacking in other members of the medical profession). As well as addressing the considerable challenges of the physical rehabilitation and return to function, Suzanne has also never shied away from addressing the psychological roller coaster of the road to recovery.
She has had the perception to recognise damaging changes in my mood and has not been afraid to use therapy time to address these issues I can only commend her professional expertise, positive attitude and understanding of both physical and psychological aspects of neurological recovery.
